Introduction: DTBP is a volatile, yellowish transparent liquid, which is a dialkyl organic peroxide. It is used as a free radical donor in the cross-linking of polymers (such as silicone rubber, ethylene propylene diene monomer, polyethylene, etc.) and the degradation of polypropylene.
DTBP is an effective initiator for the production of low density polyethylene. Kettle method and tube method under high pressure are applicable. In practical production, in order to obtain a wide range of polymerization temperature, it is often used in combination with other peroxides.
In the temperature range of 95~185 ℃, it can also be used for polymerization or copolymerization of styrene. In practice, two or more peroxides with different activities are often used together to reduce the residual amount of monomers in the final polymer and improve the reactor efficiency. In the temperature range of 130~175 ℃, it can also be used as an initiator for solution polymerization or copolymerization of acrylate and methacrylate, especially for the production of coatings. It can also be used as initiator for bulk and suspension polymerization or copolymerization of acrylate and methacrylate.
